I don’t know what will AI suggest.

I work in sustainable agronomy R&D, yes we most certainly can. Just by changing agricultural practices we can achive a lot. Not all of a sudden, but slowly we van change it in few decades.

We can also go back to small and efficient cars. Looks like electric cars gave us right to pollute more and ignore problems electric cars are bringing and we don’t have solutions.

We can also produce and buy locally.

We can add tax and real price to plastic producers, corn producers, meat producers, coal, nuclear. Real and complete price they have on environment and society. Don’t use uranium from slave mines in Africa, or lithium from undeveloped countries and say “it’s cheap”.

    Develop and use public transportation.

So we do have a lot of knowelage how to reduce pollution, but we just don’t like consequences.

So the right question is if we will do something about it and in that I am not certain. Until now I see no movement in the good side.

I just asked a locally running model, llama2 13B Guanaco

    1. Climate change is caused by human activity, such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. To address climate change, we need to reduce our reliance on these activities and transition to renewable sources of energy, like solar and wind power. This can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and slow down global warming. Additionally, we should also focus on reforestation efforts to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and restore ecosystems. Finally, we must work together globally to implement policies and technologies that promote sustainability and reduce our impact on the planet.

    2. It depends on how much effort we put into solving the problem. If everyone works together and makes significant changes, there is still hope for reducing the effects of climate change and mitigating its worst impacts. However, the longer we wait and the more damage we cause, the harder it becomes to reverse course. Time is running out, so action needs to happen quickly.

I don’t understand, what’s the significance of what AI has to say about it? If you’re talking about large language models (like chat GPT) it’s just going to say whatever is currently posted/published online on the topic.

“AI” is not capable of thinking for itself. LLMs like ChatGPT are language models that will simply repeat whatever data they were trained on in fancy ways that respond to a user’s prompts. There’s nothing AI is going to tell you about how to fix climate change that a professional climate change scientist cannot.
