I really hope me posting the memes the past couple days hasn’t been a problem. I don’t want to spam. I just have over a thousand images saved on my phone. Combine that with the fact that I’ve been having a rough couple weeks and just looking to make others laugh so I can make myself smile.

Hope you all have a great day either way. Peace and long life. 🖖

Well I hope I don’t manage to make it so. There’s a reason I’m spacing out posts by a couple hours. Last thing I want to do is overstay a welcome in the only place that feels “safe”. Been a fucky month.

Thanks though dude. I really do appreciate it.

Stamets, I want you to hook your spore drive up to your memes and give this bucket of bolts full power. We’re gonna hit warp 10 up in here.

Last time I tried that I blew out all the EPS conduits. I’ve already nearly bled out in a Jefferies helping fix a rupture in the plasma manifolds. Last thing I wanna do is have that happen again. Or, God forbid, end up ripping the saucer section apart. Vent too much of the mycelial energy to the saucer turbines. Next thing we know the ring is spinning at mach jesus, attempting to reach cavitation of the mycellial network with all the excess energy, and ends up punching a hole in the network.

Also there’s a Kasellian opera I promised someone that we’d go too. If we hook up the spore drive then it’s gonna take 8-10 hours to recharge from our onboard stash of prototaxites stellaviatori. However I’ve already got the tickets and there’s no refund.

I knew when I chose the username Stamets I would end up embarrassing myself.

Thank you <3 I’m trying to post ones that I don’t think people will have seen before. I’ve got a bunch of pretty popular ones that crop up from time to time (The L’oreal - Because you’re Worf it one as an example) but there are tons that never get the light of day. I’m trying to decide the one to post in an hour or so. Can’t figure out if I should a ‘horny kirk’ meme, a DS9 meme, a garak meme or one talking about how people always ‘confuse’ Kirk and Picard on their personality.

Edit: It’s Garak, I chose Garak.

Oh I cannot take credit for making them, just hoarding them like an immortal Ferengi. I am, however, glad that they’re brightening your day too. It’s the only thing keeping me going at the moment if I’m honest.

Stamets: Put mushrooms in it. It made it work better, but Reno made fun of him anyway.

Billups: Took 30 years just to spend extra time away from his mother’s royal consorts.

Jankom Pog: What, you think Trip acted alone?

It does blow my mind that we’ve NEVER seen main engineering in Discovery. Or anything from engineering really. Stamets lab is “Engineering Test Bay Alpha” but that’s as close as we’ve gotten. I mean Stamets isn’t even an engineer, he’s in science division, yet they have him doing engineering more than anyone else.

I love my little overworked gayboy. He’s my spirit animal.

Oh when it comes to the Spore Drive, absolutely. But anytime that major engineering problems crop up he’s still usually the one asked to deal with it somehow. Yet we know that there’s a chief engineer on board. Reno has a line in season 2 where she comes in saying that ‘The Chief’ sent her to check something out. That’s also where he line comes from about how she doesn’t know why that lab is considered propulsion. Also the ‘pick mushrooms off my pizza’ bits. I may have seen Discovery too much recently.

So we’ve got Commander Jett Reno in Engineering who works under a CEO. We’ve at least met the CMO on Discovery. She doesn’t get a whole lot of screentime but she exists. I really wanna know who the engineer was on Discovery throughout all the shit of the last 4 seasons and I really want that Engineer to show up on the Bridge in Season 5 just bitching. Having a whole monologue about how they’ve had to deal with tons of shit from the past and how no one has checked in on them. Burnham then with a look on her face like “Fuck. Shit. Fuck shit fuck.” Saru standing in the corner equally as embarrassed.

Edit: Thinking about it… Chief Engineer is the only Chief we’ve know nothing about.

Chief Medical Officer - Tracy Pollard not Hugh Culber. Memory Alpha is inaccurate on this front. Not sure why but they’ve labeled her as head nurse and Hugh as CMO. In Season 1 she’s the one giving orders to Hugh and everyone else. I’m also 90% sure there’s a line about Hugh saying she’s his boss. In Season 2 she’s also the one to allow Saru and Culber to return to active duty. Culber was also going to transfer to Enterprise, and was allowed, at the end of Discovery Season 2. No chance in hell that the CMO is just going to bounce around with no problem.

Chief Science Officer - Numerous. We’ve seen a few people hold this role over the show. Both Saru and Burnham have held this role throughout the show. I think Tilly may have as well during Season 4 before going to Starfleet Academy but I’m not entirely sure on that front.

Chief Security Officer - Numerous. Started with Landry before being handed over to Tyler. Season 2 didn’t really have an obvious one around but Na’an stepped in to fill the role over all until she departed. At the moment we don’t know who fills that role. Maybe Rhys considering he’s the tactical officer but who knows.

Chief Engineering Officer - We have only ever seen two references to a Chief Engineer on Discovery and one was a joke. There’s the one I mentioned before with Reno but there’s also a joke in Season 1. When they first land in the Mirror Universe, Lorca is about to answer the hail before Burnham stops him saying that he’s not the captain. Tilly takes over and hands it over to her ‘chief Engineer’. Lorca then starts speaking with a fake Scottish accent.

I am genuinely kind of hoping for this. I haven’t seen all of Season 2 of SNW yet (I’m watching it with a friend who’s slow as fuck, we only just finished episode 2) so I’ve got no idea what’s happening with her. But in the first 30 seconds of meeting her I fell in love. Finding out she’s apparently effectively immortal? Please please please please. She’s too hysterical. I want more of her.

I mean, different shows focus on different officers, besides captain no position is truly sacred. As important as Spock was, the TNG crew didn’t highlight their Chief Science Officer.

Oh absolutely. I am not saying that as a complaint for the record. It’s more of a ‘Huh. That’s interesting’ sort of comment. I knew we never talked about the CEO on Discovery but I hadn’t quite picked out that they’re the ONLY Chief officer we know nothing about.

To be fair she was at least transferred to Starfleet Medical in a peaceful-ish time. Culber is being yeeted into death, yoinked from it, bitch slapped with 84 varieties of PTSD and is now considering transferring while the galaxy is on the precipice of being hatefucked into extinction by a robot with a hentai addiction.

It’s true that as time went by the Engineering folks had to accomplish greater and greater feats to keep the excitement going.

It reminds me of Big Hero 6, which I just watched with my kids. In that movie you meet some cool young people who all attend an engineering university. I thought “hey that’s great I hope my kids come away with a positive view of engineering as an education path.” Because no one ever modeled that for me.

BUT as soon as you’re inside the college, you see that all the kids are working on ridiculous fantasy gadgets far beyond the realm of science. Super suits and robots and flying bikes and shit. I thought great, now you’ve jacked up the kids expectations that on day 1 of engineering school they will walk in an build themselves an iron man suit.

It’s cool to depict engineers as heroes but I wish it were a little more grounded in reality or the reality is going to be damn disappointing.

Star Trek is the only reason I haven’t killed myself. I get it. Posting these memes is also the only thing getting me through what I can only describe as a personal hell. I get it. Star Trek really does allow you escape and be happy in ways that one might not expect. I can only be happier still that I’m able to help out someone else dealing with this shit.

I love Scotty’s cameo in TNG where he explained that he always gave an over-estimate of the time something would take so that he could cultivate the persona of a miracle worker
