Just as the title asks I’ve noticed a very sharp increase in people just straight up not comprehending what they’re reading.
They’ll read it and despite all the information being there, if it’s even slightly out of line from the most straightforward sentence structure, they act like it’s complete gibberish or indecipherable.
Has anyone else noticed this? Because honestly it’s making me lose my fucking mind.
I don’t know if it’s Covid itself but at least driven by Covid lockdowns and isolation. I am just as sane as always because I’m very level headed and not extreme about anything.
Yet I’ve seen some of my friends/acquaintances go off the deed end. They’ve become hyper obsessed with politics.
It’s been strange to watch. My best friend came out as a trans woman. My girlfriend’s mother who is a crazy liberal hippy, can’t stop saying Trump is the savior. wtf.
I have friends who won’t leave their homes.
It has been a wild ride over the past few years. I think the simulation broke. I use to laugh at Elon for saying that crap but things have just been off.
Why is your friend coming out as a trans woman the first example you give of a friend going off the deep end and becoming hyper obsessed with politics?
Not at all the person you’d expect to do it. No signs. No nothing. Just one day transitioned.
Didn’t bother me, we are still best friends. Just wasn’t something expected at all.
Nah man ive seen coworkers who spent this whole time in the office and caught covid multiple times become imbeciles no matter how good they were at the job. I’ve been home this whole time and I’m working with so many idiots.
I lost a lot of people to this too. They saw me as the enemy because I’m hardcore apolitical at this point as I want nothing to do with what the obsessors are obsessing about.
I notice your name says Oregon - are you in Oregon too? I’m in Portland and political discussions here are a headache that lead to shunning. People treat politics like its their religion.
Im in south Salem.
I lean more right for most things. Socially more to the left.
I’m south Salem, I might as well be a communist. It’s super red.
I’m a republican but I’m not maga. So I don’t fit in with the right wing politics in Salem. They appear to be very far right.
I’m very moderate on everything. If you could sum it up; let people do what they want as long as it’s consensual and I’m not paying for it.
Basically I want to live my life and be left alone.
@wintermute_oregon @const_void “I have friends who won’t leave their homes.”
That’s me. When I have to wear PPE in order to safely leave my home – because everyone is huffing immunodysregulating, organ damaging plague at each other year-round – it tends to make me not want to
Didn’t even slow my down except the lockdown. We didn’t have to wear mask where I was living at the time. Went to movies, dinner, did a lot of things outside.
I have friends who still won’t go out to eat.
I did get vaccinated and boosters. I won’t don’t more boosters since it screwed with me blood pressure but I’ll most likely stay more indoors in the winter.
And then they have the nerve to give you dirty looks and ask why you’re wearing a mask. Buddy, employees going to work with covid is now cause for celebration where I am, fuck off.
