Everyone expects 20% no matter what. Especially those stylists who are working as independent contractors for a large company like Great Clips. Prices went up kind of fast in 2020, so I asked my wife to learn how to cut my hair during the lockdown, and I haven’t gone back to a professional since.

I’m between wives at the moment but I picked up a clipper and have been cutting my own for the past year or so. Otherwise yes 20%.

That’s brave! I would never cut my own hair. Well, I guess I would shave my own head. But I’d still be nervous about missing something.

After a while you get pretty good at it. I just run over it with the buzzer multiple times and run my finger tips over the back of my head a few times looking for longer strips I missed. Also if you’re out in the win you’ll feel those longer hairs you missed waggling around. I trim once a month or so but if you do it more often you’ll be likely to catch it the next time you buzz. I understand some people just don’t like the buzzed look, but I wear hats most of the time anyway and couldn’t imagine spending 20$+ to have my hair done.

Bro, you obviously do not look good like that. People can tell you cut your own hair. You do not spend enough time doing it for it to look nice.

            I trim once a month

Yeah, they all know. Even barbers trade haircuts with other barbers. You can afford $20 once every 3 weeks.

Respect yourself. A good haircut (and working out) is like the cheapest way to look nice.

I started shaving my head just because I hated getting haircuts. I had a few times where I missed a couple spots but now it’s second nature and is faster than shaving my face.

I do the same thing but I have my wife do the edges on the back of my neck because there’s just no way I can feasibly do that part myself.
