The Chinese cars are probably much safer on the road then the huge pedestrian killing machines built by US manufacturers.

It’s a real story!

At the beginning of the 20th century Henry Ford’s electrical engineers had issues they could not solve with a gigantic generator. Henry Ford called Steimmetz, a genius mathematician working for GE to help them.
When he arrive at the factory he spent 2 days and night listening to the generator and scribbling on his notebook.
After that he asked for a ladder, climbed on it, put a chalk mark on a specific spot and explain to the engineers that they needed to remove the plate and replace sixteen windings behind the plate. After that the generator worked perfectly and Ford received a $10 000 bill.
Ford asked for an itemized bill and Steinmetz sent this
Ford paid the bill.
It needs less energy overall because you don’t carry the fuel with you. The vast majority of the energy needed for a rocket launch is used to carry a bit more fuel a bit faster.
So in theory a railgun could send a payload in space for only a fraction of the cost.
The problem on earth is the atmosphere, travelling through the atmosphere at orbital speed will instantly vaporize any object due to friction. In the article they are talking about sending objects at mach 1.6 which is close to 2 000km/h. Orbital speed is around 29 000km/h so they would still be far from reaching orbit.
They don’t necessarily contradict each other (except for fundamentalist).
My understanding of religion is that the religion brings answer to the question “Why ?”, the science on the other hand answer the question “How ?”
Science will explain how human life appeared on earth but not why human life appears.
Religion is one way to answer why are we here and should we do with our life. I don’t necessarily agree with it but I could understand the appeal for some people.
Ukraine has experience with nuclear (55% of their current electricity production is from nuclear), they have the largest uranium reserve of Europe and their peak of electricity consumption is in December, when solar production is only 1/5th of summer production.
So for me it make complete sense to build nuclear power stations in Ukraine.
Energy in general is a huge geopolitical tool, see what happened with the Russian gas recently, most of the US military interventions in middle east are related to oil, France interference in Africa to secure uranium mining …
Renewable energy is just another energy, the advantage of renewable energy is that the energy source is kinda well distributed around the world.
I imagine there is also the issue with energy. You need to spend a lot of energy to climb a tree when you are 650lbs, if it’s just for a few nuts it might not be worth it
It’s my fault, I forgot to turn off the tap while brushing my teeth yesterday.
Sorry everyone.
Wood fiber will burn slowly without any toxic fume. Its not perfect but better than most oil derived products.
If available in your area, Wood fibre is often a better option than mineral wool.
On the other hand the artillery mounted on trucks seems to be quite effective.
Stuff like the Caesar can park, fire 6 shells and leave in less than 3 minutes.
It’s probably helpful for webdevs
Except if it’s Maple syrup, in this case the cup is probably a Canadian cup. One Canadian cup is 0.96076 US cup.
Imperial is great !
A lot of french cities are limited to 30km/h. It reduces the number of fatal accident, promote alternative mobilities and some studies showed that it actually increase the average car speed.
Lowering the maximum speed reduces the amount of traffic so in fine even if the maximum speed is reduced the travel time by car is reduced too.
Desalination plants also requires a lot of energy, which is another ressource that carribean islands are struggling with.
