I’m just here for the free vacation.
I’m pretty direct with him, but I think he’s quite bad at awkward discussions and good at bluffing, so I don’t think I’d get a useful answer if things were going badly.
Can you elaborate on your stink comment? Do you mean just being someone who was laid off (which I personally don’t have an issue with) or something else?
Oh, it’s sparkling, and I’ve backed up all my proof of awesomeness to show the next job. I’m finally in a place after 25 years of constant employment where I don’t fear unemployment. We’ve been diligent about building a buffer, and I have solid generalist skills and experience in a very popular tech movement.
We went through an intern phase, and the remaining ones (that are now employees) don’t have the same experience moving between jobs, so my focus is on prepping and guiding them.
Yep, as a regular employee. And we do lack transparency, and had layoffs last year. It’s also hard to read the signs as I’m in a totally different timezone and only see them in person a handful of times a year.
Interesting, the place I work at still has runway (apparently), but we’re not close to being profitable, have no clearly defined market fit, and we’re rapidly bleeding long term hires that are getting fed up and quitting. I’m sensing from the unusual silence from the founder that discussions of some sort are happening higher up that we’re not privy to. I’m trying to figure out what the signals match up to.
This isn’t going to help you now, but get a job where you’re the only US employee and everyone else’s EOD is 11am.
Also, can people add a quick blurb about these communities so we know what they’re about?
My first thought.
I lived and worked in a travelers hostel for two years, and it was basically just adult summer camp. Bonus: usually you work for your room so there’s technically no rent. There’s a lot of partying, and it can be too much at times, but it certainly has that vibe you described.
ATM. Friends use it for ‘at the moment’, but all I see is ass-to-mouth.
Ohhh really? I have one too, figured it was just a neat decoration on my camera shelf now. Maybe I’ll dust it off and use it again!
Only left the house to help my neighbor look for her escaped cat. It turned out to be in their basement. The cat gets it.
They’re a lot of fun if you can get the film. Some company reverse engineered it and then went out of business, but I think there are still options if you’re willing to pay $2 a photo.
Sometimes just being asked is enough.
Fuck, that sounds like a ridiculous amount of shite. Hopefully life balances out just up ahead.
Cookies! He’s not interested in salmon, ham, cheese, tuna, or any of the usual things. But you have a chocolate chip cookie and he’s in your face until you give him some. He’s not allowed the chocolate, and I don’t think that’s what he wants, he just loves the sweet beige American diet.
Thanks friend, some wise words there.
The main toxic boss got ‘laid off’ shortly after I brought up the issues with management, so things have improved since then. And Zoloft made me realize I had an underlying issue with a lot of things, so I guess it was the push I needed.
I am at one and it’s incredibly toxic. I got diagnosed with generalized anxiety after a year here and I regularly have mood swings. But the money is good and I work from home, so I’ve got that going for me.
Every manager Hannah I’ve ever met has been deeply troubled and unable to not make that everyone else’s issue. Only manager ones though, regular Hannahs seem to be immune.
Don’t @ me, stats don’t lie Hannah.
