  • Again, no because a bonus is based on your performance at work, how you coworkers performed, how you all performed together at work and unless your work was directly related to you and your team running and even then you’d be running on company time.

A person running has fuck all to do with performance at work and thinking about it more especially more with the various people I have and do work with, I find myself thinking how this really is an assinine idea that is not only a overstep into community script territory but also could be a very shitty thing for employee morale.

  • No they are not. A bonus is for your performance at work and when I run it’s on my own damn time.

IDGAF how much of a bonus it is, 30% is all fine and dandy but again, if they aren’t letting employees run on company time or paying employees for the time while they run during their off hours, then it’s still a fuck no from me and it’s complete bullshit to base a performance based bonus on you doing shit on your off time.

But hey, if you like having your company keeping tabs on how much you run vs how well you actually do at work for your bonus, I guess good for you, just not my cup of tea.

  • We’re still pretty early, a decade now, with their efforts to eliminate the Hong Kong culture here. Might not be looking like it’s taking a foothold but we’re not even a generation into this and it does seem they’re really focusing on the next generation.

I mean HK is still losing people emigration, heck half my family has moved since the take over, and it seems that people are still leaving at a pretty good click and that exidous will only make things easier for them to get the language.

I don’t know, I’m still an outsider looking in but all the things I see and hear doesn’t point to a great conclusion, though I hope I’m wrong since it’s like to visit again someday and hear and speak Cantonese.

  • Oh yeah, fun fact, in my former and current job every year we get invited to a town halls with some executive and every year we hear the complaints that we can’t keep employees.

Every year I ask the same question, “We keep hearing that we have a attrition problem so why do we keep chasing the industry standard for pay and benefits, why can’t we adjust our pay scale and promotion process to actual reward performance to actually keep our high performers?”

Every year, is a non-answer, nothing changes, we lose good people and only keep our industry standard people.

Though it was funny that since I’m on multiple projects/teams I did get the same speil multiple times from the same person and the third time in two years I got called I didn’t even have to ask before I got the boiler plate.
