The Express never had real journalists, even during the print news heyday.
Yes, that is indeed my point.
Did we already forget about the Tide Pods? This isn’t new, it’s just a different social media platform.

Chinese media has an agenda regarding China. Western media has an agenda regarding China.

“You know, the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack gives me real Persona 5 vibes”
Bro, South Korea literally climbed out of economic rubble a generation ago…like literally within the last 50-60 years. I don’t think they’ve gotten over the generational trauma from that yet, if we look at the hypercompetition over their limited social resources.
There’s a reason almost every K-drama has a “chaebol heir”-type character as part of the main cast/main couple. S. Korea just refuses to acknowledge that it has a class/wealth inequality problem that is leading to many of their current social issues.
This is more akin to ordering a meal and saying it tastes bad without ever having put a bite of it in your mouth.
I have not! Is that a show or documentary? I’ll have to look it up.
And chicken’s can be cute too! I had a hen that would sleep with me at our farm. She would sleep on top of me and try to cover me from the cold like they do to their eggs haha.
I don’t think you (or other people) should necessarily feel bad about eating cows and chickens, that’s just part of the lifecycle (and we humans are a part of that). It’s the awful conditions that we as a society breed, raise, and end these animal’s lives in for luxuries that we should feel bad about.
Pigs and cows are quite different from dogs in a few ways. Dogs have been bred for various roles, like being our friends, helpers, or protectors, while pigs and cows have been raised mainly for food like meat.
This view comes from people who have never had to consider how their meat gets on their table, and it’s one of the reasons I have such a strong distaste for the modern factory farming culture.
I grew up in rural Asia before moving to Europe. We had to raise any meat we wanted to eat. Pigs, cows, chickens are no different than dogs in that they all unique beings that have their own distinct personalities, likes, dislikes, and even favourite people. Yes, we still ate them, but we treated them like living beings that were giving their lives for our sustenance and survival. They were treated with respect, and no part of them was wasted. This is really not a mentality you see in society nowadays.
I still eat meat, but I try to find small, local farmers and don’t really eat meat when I eat out. I wish I could take care of my own livestock again, as they were truly our family’s companions that were essential for our survival at the time. They were just as important to me as my cat and dog sitting at my feet currently. The commodification of these animal’s lives as it relates to human profit is just a sad thought to me.
I know this is probably not a popular view, or maybe even a well thought out one. But it’s mine.
The Tiktok Manga Slideshow format has finally migrated to major news sites I see.
God I hate tech this decade.
Thank you for compiling these links. I’ll believe you on the eyeball thing, I don’t need anymore nightmare fuel.
Wait, NECROPHILE???
edit: oh my god 🤢
I’m glad I wrote actually that actually, as the other commenter said they downvoted me for spreading conspiracy theories and I was able to clarify why I wasn’t.
Also, apologies if I come off as aggressive at any point, I still have a lot of residual anger over what I experienced with my former career.
No, my initial claim was:
Curing diabetes isn’t as profitable as selling insulin. That’s why it doesn’t get funded.
Then you opined that whoever comes up with a cure wins, which should be true in a perfect world. In fact, most researchers would agree with you.
Unfortunately, a lot of MBA’s in these pharma companies don’t see it that way, and my reply to you was trying to outline the realities of that. I focussed more on the patent-and-bury part because this is the one method less known to the public (and less used), but underfunding research that can do a public good but isn’t profitable is a common technique by corporations in research, regardless of the discipline.
My bad, I thought this was common knowledge, but it probably isn’t for people who aren’t in PhD/post-doc research roles.
I am also generally in favour of it too, especially reading about world leaders back in the day that went destitute by having to pay for their own security.
It’s just ironic that this fund was established for Thatcher, and generally is claimed by PM’s who are independently wealthy.
