We gotta create a culture of downvoting misleading headlines here. This is science, not clickbait.
Late formation is one possibility of why this planet exists, but in neither proposed scenario did the planet ever “die” or got destroyed. The star either jumped over it’s expansion phase by swallowing it’s twin or the planet formed from a new protoplanetary disk formed after a star collision.
